Dessert for breakfast?

So in order to drop a few pounds and synchronize with my husbands eating habits I’m going more meat and fat-free dairy than sugar and carbs for a while.  That being said, there may be fewer posts since I’ll be doing a lot more grilling than “real” cooking.  I could post a whole lot of pictures of different forms of protein on our grill I guess….but that sounds not that interesting.

Moving on!  Fat-free dairy products aren’t restricted on our diet, but sugar is a no-no for a while.  I just can’t eat cottage cheese plain though, it just isn’t tolerable for me.    So this morning I added in some spices and poof! I had dessert for breakfast!  Have you ever eaten Arroz con Leche?  This yummy yummy Spanish dessert made with rice, milk, egg-yolks, butter, a ton of sugar and some spices is one of our favorites but oh so fattening.  However, sprinkling in 1/8th – 1/4th a teaspoon of ground nutmeg, about the same of cinnamon and a packet of Splenda into a serving of fat-free cottage cheese made my breakfast so good I almost had another.  Of course, it isn’t the same as Arroz con Leche but the flavor and texture was so close I easily could imagine having that as a dessert.   Now I know it is likely that I’m not the first to come up with this idea but either way, it’s fantastic and 100% on all phases of the Dukan diet –  can’t beat that!
